Grand Egyptian Museum – World Largest Archaeological Museum In Giza, Egypt
The ministry of culture of Egypt has decided to make the biggest archeological museum of the world which is going to give a cost of 795 million dollars. The museum is situated near the Giza pyramids, so also called the Giza museum and is standing on a wide piece of land which has been measured around 120 acres. The construction of the museum has been started in March 2012 and the expected date year of its completion is 2018. The Grand Egyptian Museum is going to be a master land mark of the country. In the year 2002 the foundation of the Grand Egyptian Museum was laid by the then president of Egypt Husni Mubarak.
There took place one of the world’s largest architecture competitions to decide the design and the building style of the museum in which participants took part from around 82 countries. After a very tough competition and rounds three participants got selected as the designer, engineer and architect. The architecture of the museum will be in modern style in the triangle shape. The oldest and the ancient statue of the king of the country Ramessess second is standing on the entrance of the museum who ruled the Egypt in around 18th century.
There is a big plaza at the entrance of the museum which is filled with plants of date. After the plaza there comes the atrium which has been specially designed for the exhibition of statues. Besides being a visiting place the museum will also play a key role in development of other museums and interaction between them. The bank of japan for international co-operation gave a loan of 300 million dollar for the progress of the museum of the museum 2007.
